After several years of lobbying, the Michigan Legislature recently made the decision to let the flag of South Vietnam represent Michigan's Vietnamese American community and their contributions to the state: State's recognition of banner from S. Vietnam pleases crowd. It may not sound like much, but the symbol means a great deal to the community. Other states that recognize the South Vietnamese flag as the flag of their Vietnamese communities include Ohio, Minnesota, Georgia, Texas and Colorado.
