from homeless to harvard
Last week, The Harvard Crimson ran a three-part series of articles called "The Road Less Traveled," on Harvard student Kimberly S.M. Woo and other transfer students to the school from community colleges. I've written about this woman before, and her story is pretty remarkable, considering she is a single mother who was once a homeless drug addict, and now working towards graduating from one of the most prestigious universities in the country. Here's part one: A Ticket Out of Poverty. Part two: Harvard Lags in Community College Recruitment (less about Woo and more generally about Harvard's community college transfers).
