Diners Club International apparently made a deal with Vietnam Brides International, which offered a four year payment plan of $167 a month, interest-free, for a $8,000 mail order bride. Saw this over on RaceWire: Get Your Vietnamese Bride Now: Only $167 Per Month.

Unbelievable. Diners Club was actually making it easier for sad sack fools to order and pay for their mail order brides. Can afford the $8,000 all at once? Make those easy monthly installments and that Oriental bride is yours. And all this was apparently completely legit. You know, aside from the extremely unethical practice of what is essentially human trafficking.

Yes, let's not pretend. These "Asian Bride" services are just a small part of the much larger problem of the trafficking of women and girls from Asia. For some, this might seem like the only way to a better life... only to find themselves trapped in God-knows-what.

Thankfully, Amanda Kloer's Human Trafficking blog on Change.org led a campaign to stop Diners Club from setting up these payment plans. You'll be happy to hear that after over 800 people signed the petition, Diners Club officially cancelled their agreement with Vietnamese Bride International.
