what are the best colleges/universities for aapi student activism?
Students! It's almost that time of year again... You head back to school, and news magazines publish their national rankings of colleges and universities. But all you high school and community college students might be asking yourself, "What is the best campus for me?" The answer's tricky, so I'm teaming up with Asian Pacific Americans for Progress to help you out.

We're putting together a list of the Best Colleges and Universities for AAPI Student Activism. As far as we know, this will be the only list of its kind. A. Magazine published a list once, way back in 2000, but it primarily focused on AAPI representation on campuses, and, of course, that privileged schools on the coasts and Hawaii.

This list will highlight the best post-secondary, bachelor's degree-granting (liberal arts colleges, universities, etc.) institutions of higher learning for YOU, the AAPI student who is interested in learning about and contributing toward the advancement of AAPI communities!

Do you think your campus has what it takes to be on this list? This is a call out to all current college students, recent college grads, and even faculty and staff: If you think your campus community is a great place for AAPI students to earn their bachelor's degrees and to cut their teeth as progressive AAPI community leaders, fill out the nomination form by August 28, 2009.

Our panel of reviewers will then evaluate your submissions. If your campus makes the list among the best, it will be featured in September on both Asian Pacific Americans for Progress and this website, and your school's AAPI community will win some priceless bragging rights.

Everyone who submits a nomination by the deadline will be entered into a raffle to win a DVD copy of the documentary Vincent Who? and five Blacklava t-shirts. So get your nominations in by August 28. Fill out the form here. And spread the word! If you have any questions, contact spamfriedrice@apaforprogress.org.
