13th annual vancouver asian film festival

This for my people in Vancouver... The 13th Annuval Vancouver Asian Film Festival runs this weekend, November 5-8 at the Cinemark Tinseltown Theatres. Four days showcasing some of the best in independent North American Asian cinema.

The party gets started tomorrow night with the Opening Night presentation of Tze Chun's award-winning indie film Children of Invention, a film you all know that I love. Vancouver, here's your chance to check out the debut feature from a fresh, talented cinematic voice.

The VAFF program includes a bunch of features I've been talking about for a while, like David Boyle's White On Rice, Christopher Wong's Whatever It Takes, Tammy Nguyen Lee's Operation Babylift, and Quentin Lee's The People I've Slept With, as well as a great selection of short films like Hwa-Jun Lee's A Green Mountain in the Drawer.

For more details, including schedule and ticket info, visit the Vancouver Asian Film Festival website here. You can also download a handy PDF (3.5 MB) of the program guide here. And check out some of the VAFF coverage over at Schema: Win Tickets to VAFF 2009 | Lucky 13! Celebrating The Brightest Talents in Asian Film.
