mvp matsui leads yankees to world series victory

And there you have it. The New York Yankees beat the Philadelphia Phillies 7-3 tonight to win the World Series. And baby, it was all about Hideki Matsui: Matsui guides Yankees to World Series victory.

Matsui was named Most Valuable Player after batting .615 with three home runs and eight RBIs over the series, driving in six runs tonight to tie the World Series record for most RBIs in one game: MVP delivers jaw-dropping numbers.

It's official: Matsui hit the hell out of that ball. Six runs -- that's a two-run homer, a two-run double and a two-run single, pretty much winning Game 6 and clinching the MVP trophy. Did I mention that now that the World Series is over, this slugger from Japan is going to be a free agent?

Matsui also became the first Japanese-born player to win the World Series MVP trophy: Matsui becomes 1st Japanese-born World Series MVP. Ichiro Suzuki, of course, has picked up quite a few honors, but they've all been in the regular season. This was Matsui's night: Matsui Leaves a Lasting World Series Memory.
